If you are not vested and you do not perform at least 600 hours of service in each of five consecutive calendar years, you forfeit all retirement credit. Forfeiture takes place at the end of the fifth year, and membership in the OPSRP Pension Program is terminated.
If you are subsequently re-employed in a qualifying position (a position requiring 600 or more hours in a calendar year), it is as if you did not establish membership before. To establish membership, you must serve another six-month waiting period. Any retirement credit you had before the forfeiture is lost and is not recoverable.
