The military leave catch-up is a provision under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). If you have been absent from employment because of military service
, you may elect to catch up contributions that would have been permitted had you remained in employment with your employer during the qualifying period of military service.
Upon re-employment, you may enroll by completing a Military Leave Catch-Up Contributions enrollment form. After receiving the form, OSGP staff will notify you of the amount of maximum additional contributions you may defer.
You can make military leave catch-up contributions for the period that begins on the re-employment date and whose length is the lesser of (1) three times the period of qualified military service or (2) five years.
The military leave catch-up can be canceled at any time.
