Survivor Benefits Following Member’s Death
Should you die:
- Before retirement, the amounts in your employee, rollover, and employer accounts, to the extent
you are in these accounts, will be paid in a single lump sum to

- After retiring but before PERS pays you all amounts in your IAP employee and vested employer accounts, PERS shall pay the remaining balance to your beneficiary or beneficiaries as a lump sum distribution.

designation of beneficiary on file, any death benefits that may be due
and payable, by law, will be paid in the following order of priority to the:
- Member's surviving spouse or other person who is constitutionally required to be treated in the same manner as a spouse.
